Laurel Goodwin has died, aged 79.
The ‘Star Trek’ star passed away on 25 February in Cathedral City, California, according to her obituary shared online on Monday (07.03.22).
Laurel - who was born in 1942 in Wichita, Kansas and then relocated with her family to San Diego - snagged a contract at Paramount Studios when she was 19 after arriving in Los Angeles after studying drama at SF State.
Her co-stars include the hearthrob Elvis Presley, who starred opposite in the 1962 flick ‘Girls! Girls! Girls!’ which saw him and Jeremy Slate compete for her character Laurel Dodge's affections. Following that, she starred in the 1963 movie ‘Papa’s Delicate Condition’ after appearing in two episodes of ‘Beverly Hills Hillbillies’. In addition, she had a role in Mel Brook's 60s spy series 'Get Smart'.
Laurel appeared in the unaired pilot episode of ‘Star Trek’ - The Cage - and the rest of the first series, which made it to air in 1966.
After marrying the late Walter Wood, they produced the 1983 movie ‘Stroker Ace’, starring Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson.
According to Page Six, Laurel retired from Hollywood in 1971 and became a nurse.
She is survived by her sister Maureen Scott “and a multitude of friends and relatives around the world,” according to the obituary.
