'LA's Finest' has been cancelled.
Spectrum Originals have decided to pull the plug on the detective drama - which saw Gabrielle Union reprise her 'Bad Boys II' role of Syd Burnett opposite Jessica Alba as her policing partner Nancy McKenna - after two seasons, Variety has reported.
The cancellation news comes just a few months after Fox announced they had acquired the broadcast right to both seasons of the show, with them airing the first in September, the same month that Spectrum Originals debuted the second series.
The programme - which was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television and 2.0 Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures TV and Charter Communications - originally started out as a pilot on NBC in 2018 but was passed over, with Spectrum going on to pick it up as their first original series, debuting the show in 2019.
But despite its star-studded cast and the connection to the 'Bad Boys' film series, the show was largely panned by critics and is believed to have been a flop in the ratings.
Meanwhile, Jessica recently caused a stir when she claimed she had been told not to make eye contact with the main cast members when she had a guest role on 'Beverly Hills, 90210'.
She said: “I couldn’t even make eye contact with any of the cast members, which was really strange when you’re like trying to do a scene with them. It was like, ‘You’re not allowed to make eye contact with any one of the cast members or you’ll be thrown off the set.’ ”
Stars including Jason Priestly, Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering subsequently denied having any knowledge of the instruction, and show director Joel Fiegenbaum recently insisted he also wasn't aware of the rule.
He said: "I had not [heard that rule about no eye contact]. I had not, but I’m not saying … it’s very possible someone could have said that to her, either seriously or not.
“I can’t imagine who it would have been. It certainly wasn’t one of the cast and I can’t even imagine - the only other people it might have been, an AD [assistant director] or maybe somebody in the makeup and hair trailer. I don’t doubt that she heard that somehow, but I certainly was never aware of it and you certainly never saw that on the set anyway.”
