Doctors at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas are said to have informed the 35-year-old basketball player's estranged wife Khloé Kardashian and family that his heart function is "much better."

A source told gossip website TMZ.com the former 'Khloé & Lamar' star, who has been in a coma since being rushed to hospital on Tuesday (13.10.15) after collapsing at a brothel in Nevada, underwent further tests this morning (16.10.15) that showed he's making progress.

But his medical team has restricted access to his room and asked his family, including children, Destiny, 17 and Lamar Jr, 13, with ex-girlfriend Liza Morales, to maintain a "calm" atmosphere by his bedside, as they don't want him to be stimulated because it could interfere with his recovery.

Doctors previously put the LA Lakers star's chances of survival at "50/50," as he was "entirely unresponsive" and an insider claimed "even if he survives he has virtually no chance of ever leading a normal life".

The athlete's maternal aunt JaNean Mercer has thanked fans for their support and appealed for more prayers.

In a statement, she told E! News: "No words can express the overwhelming gratitude we feel for the outpouring of support from around the world. Please continue to keep in your prayers, our family and Lamar, whom we deeply love, admire and cherish. His complete healing is paramount and our primary focus. Please respect our privacy as we continue to lean on GOD and trust in Him during this extremely difficult time."

Lamar was allegedly found with "virtually every drug imaginable" in his body and he is also battling kidney failure after suffering a series of strokes.
