The 35-year-old basketball star was rushed to hospital when he was found unconscious at a brothel in Nevada and despite previous reports suggesting his "kidneys are shot," his organs are said to have made a miraculous recovery and he has been moved from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Doctors - who had Lamar on six hours of dialysis - originally told the star his kidney condition was life-threatening and are surprised by the turnaround, TMZ reports.

Meanwhile, Lamar is making his own decisions as he recovers in Los Angeles' Cedar-Senai Medical Center.

He is also "getting stronger every day" and has been able to walk, despite it being a little hard for nurses to aid him because of his mammoth height.

The source said: "Lamar is getting better every day. He is more coherent and can talk more. [He is] walking with help now. He is getting stronger every day.

"And has a great team of therapists and specialists working with him. He's 6' 11" and weighs a lot, so getting him to walk a little has been really hard."

His estranged wife Khloé Kardashian has been keeping a bedside vigil ever since he was admitted to hospital.
