Lamar Odom

Lamar Odom is trying to revive his basketball career.

The disgraced player - whose four-year marriage to Khloe Kardashian has been rocked by claims of infidelity and crack cocaine addiction - is determined to salvage his reputation and prove he's sober by returning to the NBA.

The unsigned sports star is flying to New York later today in order to meet with basketball bosses and give them proof he's clean, according to TMZ.

The website claims Lamar underwent blood and urine tests for drugs on Tuesday (08.10.13) and tested negative for illicit substances.

The 33-year-old athlete is also hoping the trip will help him get away from "the negative energy" and paparazzi attention in Los Angeles and enable him to spend quality time with his family.

Lamar was drafted to the Los Angeles Clippers in 1999, playing four successful seasons with them before signing as a free agent with Miami Heat. After a year, he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, for whom he played from 2004 until 2011, and was finally traded back to the Clippers in 2012 after a season with the Dallas Mavericks.

However, Lamar's sporting career has taken a back seat of late. On Wednesday (09.10.13), he pled not guilty to a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) charge linked to his arrest on August 30 by the California Highway Patrol. He failed several field sobriety tests on the scene and his licence was suspended for a year when he refused all chemical tests.
