The showbiz matriarch loves the basketball player - who is currently fighting for his life after being found unconscious in a brothel on Tuesday (13.10.15) - "so much" and despite his splitting from her daughter Khloe Kardashian in 2013 amid allegations of drug abuse and infidelity, she and the rest of her family have still looked out for him and are "devastated" by his hospitalisation.
Kris' friend Lance Bass told 'The Meredith Vieira Show': "The family is devastated of course. This is the only family that Lamar has.
"Kris loves him so much, and she was the one that would just call him so much and stay in touch and make sure that he's OK.
"They knew he was an addict and they wanted to make sure he was safe."
Lance admitted Khloe and her family felt they had to "cut off" Lamar when they no longer felt they could help with his substance abuse problem.
He added: "There was really nothing they could do.
"Sometimes you just have to cut it off and that's what they had to do with him.
"Unfortunately, this is where it led to. It can not be an easy thing. They are by his side right now ... It's just a sad situation all around."
Khloe - who is still legally married to the sportsman as their divorce paperwork hasn't been signed off - flew out to Las Vegas with her sister Kim Kardashian West and mother Kris after hearing the news.
The 35-year-old sportsman had reportedly consumed eight or 10 herbal Viagra pills, and two thirds of a bottle of cognac before his collapse, as well as allegedly taking cocaine in the days before.
