'South Park' is going on hiatus because its creators have nothing else to say about Donald Trump.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone have confirmed season 27 of the adult animation comedy series has been delayed "on purpose" to 2025 to avoid the upcoming election battle between the former president and his Democrat rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, as the political situation can be a "mind scramble" and makes the show "less fun".
Matt told America's Vanity Fair magazine: “We’ve tried to do South Park through four or five presidential elections, and it is such a hard thing to - it’s such a mind scramble, and it seems like it takes outsized importance.
“Obviously, it’s f****** important, but it kind of takes over everything and we just have less fun."
Trey added: “I don’t know what more we could possibly say about Trump."
Talking about skipping Trump's re-election campaign later in the interview, Matt admitted: "Honestly, it's on purpose...
“It’s just way more fun to be like, Oh, Cartman’s going to dress up like a robot."
This year's only new episode was the special 'South Park: The End of Obesity', which focused on the current popularity of weight-loss drugs, and the writers explained the plot came from personal experience.
Trey said: "I got on it. I lost, like, 25 pounds, but I was, like, I hate this - I feel different. I feel like something’s different.
"Like, yes, I want to eat less, but I also want to do everything else less. And that’s where that whole show came from.”
The pair previously admitted making 'South Park' isn't always "fun and games".
Matt told People magazine: "It is not just fun and games doing 'South Park'. It's brutal and stressful and terrifying at times, so once in a while, you get a show that is just fun. It's rare, but those are the ones that keep it going."
