Kerry Washington's husband Nnamdi Asomugha can't wait for the birth of their first child next year saying he plans to be a hands-on dad after announcing his retirement from American football
The actress is expecting a baby with NFL star Nnamdi Asomugha, whom she married in an intimate ceremony in Hailey, Idaho on June 24, and he hinted he plans to be a hands-on father after announcing his retirement from American football on Friday.
The 32-year-old Oakland Raiders quarterback confirmed the news in a statement and said: "Another journey is starting for me right now."
When asked how Kerry reacted to his retirement announcement, he also told a press conference: "I've had a lot of support from my family. Everybody's just been great about it."
He added: "Life happens. You start getting these feelings -- it's time. I just felt that it was the right time."
News that the couple are expecting their first child emerged in October but Kerry has been extremely tight-lipped about her pregnancy to date.
But the actress, 36, did acknowledge her fans well wishes on Twitter on Wednesday (25.12.13).
She tweeted: Merry Christmas!!!! And thank you sooooooo much for all your holiday prayers, wishes & blessings. XOXOXOX (sic)"
