The 40-year-old star inked herself with a large tattoo of an angel on her forearm to remember her aunt Angela, who passed away in March from alcoholism.

Documenting the process on Instagram, Kerry said: "In aid of our Angela, I want to get an angel on my arms."

She first shared a glimpse at the stencil on her arm before the artwork was permanently inked on her body at her regular parlour, Black and Even in Tunbridge Wells.

Kerry admitted the process was painful and took a break by singing and dancing to a song playing on the speakers "to take her mind off how much it hurts".

However, she added that getting the ink was emotional and confessed that she was going to "cry when this is done."

The former Atomic Kitten singer revealed she was "heartbroken" when her aunt passed away and worried she didn’t do more to help Angela.

She wrote in her column in New! magazine: “My beautiful Auntie Angela sadly passed away and we’re all heartbroken.

“Angela was more like my sister. I’m an only child and I grew up with my Nanny Betty and me and Ang shared a bedroom ... There’s a sense of guilt where I feel like I could have done more to help her. I think we’re all feeling that as a family.

“She’s left three beautiful, amazing children behind. Alcoholism is a vile disease. Rest in peace Ang, I love you."

Kerry - who has overcome her own problems with substance abuse, including cocaine addiction - remembered her aunt as the “life and soul of the party” who was always on hand to help her organise her home.

She said: “She was the most fun and loving person - she was the life and soul of the party.

“She’d do anything for anybody. And she was such a clean freak! When she lived with me she must have reorganised my wardrobe about a million and one times."
