Keira Knightley had the "least pretentious wedding ever", according to Karl Lagerfeld.
The British actress married rocker James Righton in an intimate ceremony in the South of France last month, and Chanel's creative director felt the low-key nuptials were very tasteful.
The 79-year-old designer spoke fondly of Keira - who is the face of Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle scent - saying she looked chic in a short Chanel dress with flat ballet pumps for her big day.
Karl told the Sunday Telegraph newspaper: "She had the least pretentious wedding ever. The whole thing was relaxed. I think it's perfect. After all, they lived together for quite a time.
"It's not as if she is a young girl of 18 who sees the husband for the first time. She is not a country girl."
He also discussed working with Keira, revealing she was easy to get along with on set in her recent role as Coco Chanel in a film focusing on the opening of the designer's first store in the French seaside town of Deauville.
Karl added: "Keira was genius, no? I work well with her. Very easy. Keira has zero problem in her way of behaving and she knows everybody."
However, the designer doesn't have the same admiration for Audrey Tautou, who played Coco in the 2009 film 'Coco Before Chanel', despite the French actress previously being the face of Chanel no.5 fragrance.
Karl ranted: "Oh, the movie was bad. She played it like women's lib, like Simone de Beauvoir 30 years before 'The Second Sex '. No, no, no, no. Chanel was a different kind of woman. Keira had it. She is a young woman in love, not a spinster."
