Katy Perry feels "great" about her final season on 'American Idol'.
The 39-year-old pop star recently announced her exit from the hit TV show - but Katy feels there's lots to look forward to during season 22 of 'American Idol'.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Katy shared: "This season’s talent is better than ever. Some of the cuts we’ve had to make would easily have made it through other seasons."
Katy has loved her time on the show, and she recently gave two of her co-stars - Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie - an insight into her Californian roots.
She said: "The best part of bringing Idol to Santa Barbara was being able to share my roots."
Katy announced her exit from 'American Idol' during a recent TV appearance.
The award-winning star - who joined 'American Idol' in 2018 - said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!': "I think this probably will be my last show, my last season for 'Idol'.
"I mean, I love 'Idol' so much. It’s connected me with, like, the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat, you know what I’m saying?"
Lionel, 74, subsequently admitted that her exit "makes sense".
The veteran star can understand why Katy has decided to walk away from 'American Idol' at this point in time.
During an appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', Lionel said: "We didn’t know about it, but it makes sense.
"In other words: The reason I love coming on the show with you and the reason I’m doing 'American Idol' is because I have 400 years of stories and a life in the music business. I have things that I’ve done."
