Katie Price says bankruptcy is the "best thing that’s ever happened to her".
The 42-year-old star - who is engaged to Carl Woods - says she has been "broken by everyone" in her past, so is grateful she has been declared bankrupt as it means they can't do that to her anymore.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: "I've been sucked dry in the past. I was mentally abused and broken by everyone. It’s not like I have skeletons in my closet but everyone tried to get everything they could out of me. But now, I can go to sleep at night and I just think, 'F*** it. My bankruptcy is the best thing that’s ever happened to me ... Because anyone who has ever been in my life before has tried to take from me, financially mostly. Now they can’t, as I’m in a bankruptcy. I love it."
Katie was declared bankrupt back in November 2019 during a hearing at the Insolvency and Companies Court in London after failing to pay back the agreed £12,000 a month to her creditors.
In the previous December, Katie was given an individual voluntary arrangement (IVA) to pay back what she owed - believed to be around £800,000 - in instalments every month until the whole debt was cleared. Katie or a representative for her was not present at the hearing and was declared bankrupt.
However, things are looking up for Katie now as she is set to marry Carl, as she previously revealed Carl asked her son and parents for permission before he proposed to her.
She said: "We'd spoken about it a lot, so I knew he was going to, I just didn't know when. It was amazing. Carl asked my mum and dad for permission – and Junior!"
