Katie Holmes wishes Leah Remini "only the best in the future."
The former 'Kings of Queens' star claims in her upcoming memoir, 'Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology,' in which she promises to lift the lid on her "remarkable journey toward emotional and spiritual freedom," that she got into trouble with the leaders of the controversial religion for showing up to the 36-year-old actress' wedding to ex-husband Tom Cruise, who is a longtime Scientologist, late in 2006 and once jokingly telling them to "get a friggin' room" after they kissed in front of her.
But in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.com and provided to ABC for Leah's '20/20' interview, which will air in the US tonight (30.10.15), Katie said: "I regret having upset Leah in the past, and wish her only the best in the future."
It has not yet been fully revealed what Leah, 45, says about the 'Ray Donovan' star, who split from Tom in 2012, in her tell-all or the '20/20' special.
But a spokesperson for Katie hinted she is unhappy about being dragged into the drama, adding: "In response to an email sent from the producers or fact-checkers from '20/20' asking a plethora of questions, we supplied no answers and instead gave only a one-sentence statement in response. Katie is not making an appearance on the special, nor is she discussing Scientology, or her former marriage, and this quote was provided through her publicist.
"For any outlet to suggest otherwise is misleading; I would think Leah and the book stand on their own, and don't need to trade off Katie Holmes for people to tune in."
