Katie Holmes found it "challenging" being behind the camera.
The 36-year-old actress admits she struggled when she swapped acting for directing on her recent film 'All We Had' but found it incredibly "rewarding" in the end.
She told PEOPLE magazine: "I was actually on both sides [of the camera]. It was an undertaking, but the movie was produced by Jane Rosenthal and you couldn't ask for a better producer, so I felt very taken care of.
"It was very challenging! But very, very rewarding. Hopefully you just get better every time you do it. That's what I'm hoping for."
Meanwhile, the 'Dawson's Creek' actress - who has nine-year-old daughter Suri with husband Tom Cruise - previously insisted she has no regrets.
She shared: "I don't regret anything that I've done. I've learned from everything, and everything sort of leads you to the next place. I just keep going.
"I have a very normal life, and I happen to work in an industry that is abnormal. Daily life, I take a train and cab; it's just about getting from here to there, and I don't care how I do it. I have to get there."
