Katherine Jenkins realised she had made it in showbusiness when her mother rang her up to tell her she had been an answer to a question on the notoriously tough British quiz show 'University Challenge.
The 34-year-old mezzo-soprano Jenkins knew she had become a successful singer when her mother Susan rang the blonde beauty to tell her a question about her fourth studio album had been on the notoriously tough British quiz show.
When asked when she knew she had really made it, she said: "My Mum rang me up and said I was a question on 'University Challenge'. It was something like, 'What was the name of my fourth album'."
Katherine admits she has been "very lucky" to have tasted so much success in her career and puts it partly down to her parents not pressurising her when she first shot to fame.
She said: "I am so grateful for those opportunities. And I was lucky that my parents were not pushy parents, so I could develop without pressure.
"I've been very lucky that along the way it has snowballed. That gave me the opportunity to get my head around everything.
"I look at the 'X Factor' contestants and they go straight from normal life to stardom. I don't think I could cope with that."
The Welsh star achieved further success in her personal life last September when she married filmmaker Andrew Levitas, and she has promised to take him for a traditional fish and chips meal in her home nation after assuring him they are the best in the world.
Speaking to the Daily Post newspaper, she added: "It's beautiful, it's so gorgeous. My husband is American and I have told him how gorgeous it is and we are looking forward to it. And it has got the best fish and chips."
