Katherine Jenkins insisted it would have been “weird” to not involve her children in her Christmas special.
The 40-year-old singer has been working on 'Katherine Jenkins: Christmas Spectacular', a musical spectacular filmed at London’s Royal Albert Hall which will feature the likes of Vanessa Redgrave, Bill Nighy and Sir Bryn Terfel and it was essential for her to involve five-year-old Aaliyah and two-year-old Xander in the production, which is produced by her husband, Andrew Levitas.
She said: “"It felt weird for them not to be involved because this is a project that comes from the heart.
"You see them running down the corridors and getting into mischief and my daughter is literally hanging out with the Sugar Plum Fairy, so she was thrilled.”
The idea for the festive extravaganza stemmed from the Facebook live stream concerts which Katherine staged for her fans during lockdown when her planned tour dates were axed.
She said: “What I learned from that time is that music really does bring people together and gets them through hard times.
“There was - and still is - a lot of uncertainty about whether Christmas concerts and carol services would happen this year.
"So I thought, 'I'm going to make a film which has all the amazing parts of Christmas I love - Christmas on steroids! - so people can have that experience wherever they are.”
The film marks Katherine and Andrew's second professional collaboration, with their other, 'Minamata' - a film written and directed by the producer and starring the singer along with Johnny Depp - due for release next year.
And the blonde beauty thinks she and her spouse work well together.
She said in an interview "Were both artists but in different fields, so it's never a competition. We might not always agree, but we respect each other's artistic choices. He's been really good at making me think out of the box."
