Katherine Heigl feels "sorry" that when she met Shonda Rimes, she made a "crappy impression".
The actress was branded a diva and difficult after being on other sets earlier this year, and has spoken out after the Grey's Anatomy creator appeared to brand her as an "a******e", implying she was hard to work with.
In an interview with Extra, Katherine explained: "The last one with Shonda ... it sucks.
"I am sorry that she feels that way and I wish her nothing but greatness, and I have nothing negative to say about Shonda. I'm a big fan of her work. I watch 'Scandal' every week, and so I'm sorry she's left with such a crappy impression of me. I wish I could do something to change that. Maybe I will be able to someday."
The actress admitted that it had been difficult to "stomach" hearing stories of her bad reputation, but she's now doing her best to prove them wrong.
"Yeah, that took some stomaching and having to just go, OK, there's nothing I can do about this except to sort of prove it wrong, you know, and the only way to prove it wrong is for people to have a work experience with me that doesn't speak to that at all."
Katherine said all of this after Shonda explained she had no time for "nasty people" in her life anymore.
Discussing the tight-knit cast on her other show Scandal, and her "no a*******s" policy, she went on to add: "There are no Heigls in this situation...
"I don't put up with bulls**t or nasty people. I don't have time for it."
The pair's friendship soured in 2008 after the blonde beauty withdrew her name from awards consideration, because she felt she hadn't been provided with the material "to warrant an Emmy nomination."
