Katharine McPhee has shared the first photo of her engagement ring, alongside a sweet note dedicated to her late father.
The 34-year-old actress announced the tragic news earlier this week that her father had passed away, and took to Instagram again on Saturday (21.07.18) to reveal the first picture of her engagement ring given to her by fiancé David Foster, as she says it was "the last thing" she showed her dad before he died.
In the caption, she wrote: "It's been a hard week. Lots of tears but I want to thank my friends and family for all the love and support. My dad was so happy for me. My ring was the last thing I showed my dad before he passed and makes me smile when I look at this as a reminder of our last conversation. And now I'm ready to share with all of you what has been my sunshine amongst this painful loss. My love wisely said to me the other day that "death is the only thing that is 100 percent inevitable and the thing we are least prepared for." So today we're celebrating life and not forgetting love. (sic)"
Musician David, 68, proposed to the 'Scorpion' actress at the start of this month, whilst the pair were vacationing in Italy.
Katharine was spotted showing off her engagement ring to her friends and family on FaceTime and her representative then confirmed that the pair are engaged.
The pair's engagement comes after Katharine revealed she had been friends with David - who is the ex-husband of reality television star Yolanda Hadid - for years before their relationship became romantic.
She shared: "We're very close friends, and we've been friends for a long time. I'm really, really fond of him, and I think he's an incredible person. I've known him since I was 21 years old, you know? He produced my first single. So he's been really good to me. People can say whatever they want."
