Kate Winslet was once told she could only get "fat girl parts".

The 40-year-old actress won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in 'Steve Jobs' at the BAFTAs in London on Sunday (14.02.16) and during her emotional acceptance speech, she revealed the insecurities she overcame to forge a successful career.
Dedicating her award to teenage girls, she said: "When I was younger, when I was 14, I was told by a drama teacher that I might do OK if I was happy to settle for the fat girl. Well look at me now.
"So what I always feel in these moments is that any young woman who has ever been put down by a teacher, by a friend, by even a parent, just don't listen to any of it, because that's what I did - I kept on going and I overcame my fears and got over my insecurities. Just keep doing it and believing in yourself."
Kate also thanked her husband Ned Rocknroll for giving up his seat at the prestigious ceremony so that her mother Sally Anne could sit with the actress.
She said: "Thank you to my wonderful husband Ned who gave his seat to my mum so she could sit next to me.'
"Neddy you're in this room, I know you are! Hi babe, happy Valentine's day!"
She added: "My children who are probably more excited about this moment than I am. And my wonderful parents, I love you so much."
The actress has previously won BAFTAs for 1996 movie 'Sense and Sensibility' and 2009'S 'The Reader'.
