Kate Winslet won't do theatre because she doesn't want to miss putting her children to bed.
The 40-year-old actress has children Mia, 14, Joe, 11, and 23-month-old Bear and revealed she would love to take to the stage but isn't willing to give up evenings with her kids.
She said: "I think it's the only thing so far that really has been holding me back, that I would lose my weekends and those very important bedtimes which I'm never going to get back."
And while she admitted balancing work with her children isn't always easy, she knows how lucky she is compared to many others.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4's 'Women's Hour', she said: "I'm not going to pretend that it's straightforward. I always immediately think of the incredible women who work nine-to-five jobs, 48 weeks of the year. Because they're the women I take my hat off to."
Kate previously spoke about the special bond her children - from three different marriages - have with each other.
She explained: "My 15-year-old, she's so wonderful. She helps, and not only that but I see sides of me now coming out in her. She is incredibly helpful to me as a woman and as a parent. I'll say to her, 'Mims, can you please have Bear for the next hour? I'm just gonna grab a shower and I've got a couple of things I've got to do.' She's like, 'Yep, sure!'
"Children should play with each other, you know? And look after each other. That's really what we have, and it's very special."
