Kate Micucci is recovering from lung cancer.
The 43-year-old ‘Big Bang Theory’ actress shared the devastating news on TikTok in a post taken from a hospital bed that she branded a “Sick Tok”.
She also revealed in the clip doctors had caught the disease “really early” and she had been able to undergo surgery last week to remove the cancer.
Kate told fans: “It’s really weird, because I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life so uh, you know, it was a surprise.”
She added doctors “got it out” and that she’s now “all good”.
Kate added: “It’s been a little bit of a trip and (I’ll) probably be moving slow for a few weeks but then I’ll be back at it.”
At the end of her video, Kate appeared content as she walked in the hospital with her IV drip, while admiring artwork in the halls.
She also told fans that she is looking forward to getting back into painting herself amid recovery.
The video ended with a photograph of her lying in her hospital bed and smiling with a miniature box of Frosted Flakes in one hand and a banana in the other.
Kate also revealed she had found her lung cancer by replying to a fan’s question in her comment section.
She wrote online: “I had one thing in my bloodwork that came back really high.
“So I went to a preventative doc who did a few scans. He scanned my heart and that’s where the spot in my lung was noticed.”
Kate has been flooded with well-wishes since her announcement, with the American Cancer Society posting: “You got this! We are here for you during your journey.”
The group warns about 20 per cent of people who die every year from lung cancer in the US have never smoked or used any form of tobacco.
As well as ‘The Big Bang Theory’, Kate is renowned for her voice work in the likes of ‘DuckTales,’ and as Velma in a string of ‘Scooby-Doo!” projects.
