Kate Hudson thinks actresses need to "support each other" more.
The 36-year-old star says women in Hollywood have "made great strides" to achieve gender equality, but believes they need to band together to make a bigger impact.
Asked about her thoughts on female empowerment in the film industry, according to PEOPLE.com, the 'Almost Famous' actress told reporters at the La Mer Celebrates 50 Years of an Icon event in Los Angeles: "I think it's an incredibly relevant, important time for all of that. I think we have a long way to go. And it's a big subject for me, too, for a lot of women. I think we've made great strides, but we're still not there yet.
"I think the more that we support each other and get on board with each other, the stronger we are. And the more things we can achieve together."
Kate's mother Goldie Hawn recently revealed she raised her daughter to be "self-sustaining" and taught her the importance of making her own money rather than relying on a male partner.
The 69-year-old star: "Kate is in a similar situation to what I was. Self-sustaining in many ways, obviously financially. And our children have grown up also understanding that's a fair deal. Women working for themselves isn't such a bad thing."
