Kate Hudson feels "better all around" than she did 10 years ago.
The 36-year-old actress, who has sons Ryder, 11, with ex-husband Chris Robinson and four-year-old Bingham with former fiancé Matt Bellamy, says she is more in tune with her emotions and leads a healthier lifestyle.
She said: "I feel better all around. I feel like I'm more clear, I feel like I've had done some good work internally, and I just feel like I'm in a nice place and enjoying life. We get to a point where we're like, you know what, one day we're just not gonna be here anymore, so I'm going to enjoy every second of it."
The 'Rock the Kasbah' star, who is rumoured to be casually dating 23-year-old singer Nick Jonas, tries to work out consistently to maintain her trim figure and relies on British chef Jamie Oliver for healthy recipes.
She told PEOPLE.com: "I'm a mindful eater. I'm a foodie, so for me, I had to try to figure out how to understand what I'm eating, and then I got really into it and I got excited what I was learning about food.
"I'm friends with Jamie Oliver and we talk a lot about food and how people need to be more knowledgeable about what they're putting into their bodies because it's more than just staying fit, it's really about our health. If you're not mindful about sugar, high sugar intake is just the worst thing for you, but I'm like everything moderation and that's how I approach it."
Asked how she avoids putting on weight during the holiday season, she added: "I just keep working out. You can't stop. Everyone thinks there's a trick, but there's no trick! The trick is, you have to be consistent."
