The 35-year-old singer quoted the legendary boxer on three separate occasions as he addressed the crowd at The Forum in Inglewood, Los Angeles, on Sunday night (31.07.16). after being presented with the Decade Award by former LA Lakers basketball player Kobe Bryant.

He said: "I wanted to share three pieces of his undying wisdom that has helped me and may help you along your journey.

"Number one: The champ said this, 'Don't count the days, make the days count.'

"Now you are young as I once was, but do not think for a moment that what you do doesn't count ... it does. Not just to you but to the world and your generation who will someday inherit this world from old-timers like me and Kobe.

"Number 2: The champ said this, 'Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.'

"So be generous, be kind, be fair. It's not just the right thing to do, it's the good thing to do. And I think we can all agree that with the tension in the world that threatens to divide us, we should be part of the solution, and not part of the problem.

"You don't have to make a difference on a global stage. You can volunteer in your neighbourhood or a neighbourhood where people might look a little different from you and they might teach you a thing or two.

"And third, here's maybe the greatest thing a teen or anybody that's in this room and who's watching at home - these are words to remember when anyone tries to tell you to give up, to give in, because the thing you are trying to do is 'impossible', the champ said this: Impossible is just a word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given rather than explore the power they have to change it.

"Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing" - greatest quote ever."

Justin was not the only star who made a passionate speech at the ceremony as Jessica Alba called for an end to gun violence while she was joined on stage by a group of teenagers whose loved ones were slain in shootings in San Bernardino, California; Newton, Connecticut; and Orlando, Florida.

She asked viewers to tweet the hashtag #StopTheViolence and said: "Together, we stand with these teens. Now more than ever, we need to stop, feel and ask what's going on.

"It keeps happening, and it has to stop."

TV show 'Pretty Little Liars' was the big winner on the night, picking up six surfboard trophies, including Choice TV drama.

Dylan O'Brien, who did not attend, won four prizes, while 5 Seconds of Summer and Fifth Harmony each picked up a hat-trick of accolades.

The Teen Choice Awards 2016 was hosted by Victoria Justice and wrestler John Cena.

Victoria entered the venue on top of one of the surfboard prizes, which were carried in by four burly guys.

She challenged Cena to a wrestle but he said: "I'm not here to wrestle ... I'm here to host."

The brunette beauty started attacking him and he eventually picked up up and put her over his shoulder.
