Justin Bieber has thanked his mother for not "giving up" on him.

The 21-year-old singer has taken to his Instagram account to deliver a heartfelt thanks to his mother Pattie Mallette, 40, acknowledging that his "stupid phase" would have lasted a lot longer if it wasn't for her influence.
In a message marking Mother's Day in North America, Justin described Pattie as "the best", adding: "This woman taught me everything I know, how to love how to be compassionate how to be strong when the only thing u wanna be is weak how to stand when all you want to do is fall. If it wasn't for this woman lets just say I would have had a way LONGER stupid phase. I love u and thank u for not giving up on me! (sic)"
In March, the 'Boyfriend' hitmaker - who previously dated actress Selena Gomez - confessed he's still trying to figure out the type of man he wants to be.
He explained: "I'm growing, figuring some stuff out, as you do when you grow up. You figure out what type of man you want to be, that's where I'm at. I'm still young. I'm still trying to figure out who I am, and I'm just trying to have fun."
