Julie Bowen's Primetime Emmy Award nomination "takes the sting" out of her being shot by a paintball gun.
The 45-year-old actress - who has twins John and Gustav, six, with husband Scott Phillips - is thrilled to be up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the sixth year running, especially because it cheered her up after her children's mischief.
She tweeted: "Thank you, Emmys for the nomination! It takes the sting out of getting shot in the head with a paintball gun. By my own kid."
And Julie - whose co-star Ty Burrell is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series - feels "lucky" that the show is also up for Outstanding Comedy Series this year.
The previous two-time winner added: "Congrats to my whole modern family on the Emmy nomination. Holy crud. We are lucky people..."
Elsewhere, Outstanding Lead Actress is a Comedy Series nominee Julia Louis-Dreyfus - who plays President Selina Meyer in 'Veep' - is backing 'Mad Men' star Jon Hamm to triumph as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
She said: "As President, my staff and I are too busy doing the people's business to watch television. Nonetheless, we are thrilled to be a part of this celebration of creativity. (Go Jon Hamm!)"
While 'The Big Bang Theory' may have been a shock omission for Outstanding Comedy Programme, actress Mayim Bialik scored a nod in the Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series category and hailed the recognition a "humble blessing".
She said: "I am literally shocked. Every year it's a humble blessing to be nominated and I don't take any of this life or the adrenaline it creates for granted.
"I never knew that playing dress up for a living could be this invigorating. Thank you for the honour of being nominated for the fourth year in a row."
'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' star Tituss Burgess was lost for words at being nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
He posted: "I have no words. None. Deeply grateful."
The Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced today (16.07.15), ahead of the ceremony, which takes place on September 20.
