Julie Bowen has praised Sarah Hyland for having the strength to walk away from her relationship with Matt Prokop.
Bowen and Hyland play mother and daughter in the hit show Modern Family, and Bowen has come out in support of the twenty three year old.
Talking at the Baby2Baby event in California on Saturday (08.11.14), Julie said: "Oh my God, Sarah is so great. She's an angel. Just love her. I love her.
"Sarah is not even 25, and she's already way ahead of where I ever was. She's awesome."
Sarah split with Prokop last month, amid accusations that he was abusive towards her during their relationship.
The actress took out a permanent restraining order against her former partner after the split. The actress also revealed in court documents that Matt had been physically and verbally abusive towards her.
Hyland and Prokop had been dating for five years before the actress called it quits, after the pair met while auditioning for High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
Bowen - who originally intervened when she suspected that Sarah was not coping in the relationship - admitted to Us Weekly magazine that she felt she had to help her co-star out.
She said: "I'm just nosy. I stick my nose in anything and everything. I love my kids, my fake kids and my real kids.
"If anyone needs help, I'm a soft touch."
