Jon Hamm will undergo throat surgery to remove a growth of abnormal tissue.
The Mad Men actor reportedly became alarmed after coughing up blood recently, according to Life & Style magazine.
The 42-year-old star was overheard talking about the procedure with his on-screen ex-wife January Jones at an Emmy Awards after party on Sunday night.
The sugery will remove a single polyp from his vocal chords.
Meanwhile, Jon and the rest of the 'Mad Men' cast left this year's Emmy Awards empty handed after several years of dominating the awards and Jon recently revealed how he and 'Parks and Recreation' comedienne Amy Poehler have decided to throw a loser's after party.
He said: "We figured that the winners get celebrated enough, so we thought it was about time that the losers get celebrated."
