Jon Bon Jovi has lost “friends and neighbours” to coronavirus. The 'Livin' On A Prayer' hitmaker has opened up on the impact of the global pandemic and revealed it hit close to home, with his 18-year-old son Jacob battling mild symptoms, while Bon Jovi bandmates David Bryan and Everett Bradley were more seriously affected by the virus.Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper, Jon said: "The virus was all around us. "We were in the bullseye in New York and New Jersey, and I lost friends and neighbours."A dear friend of mine lost his mum. The guy that sold me this apartment beat cancer but lost his life to Covid-19."The pandemic also impacted Bon Jovi's music plans, with a tour getting cancelled rather than trying to rearrange the dates.In a statement at the time, the band wrote: “Given these difficult times, we have made the decision to cancel the tour entirely."This will enable ticket holders to get refunds to help pay their bills or buy groceries. These are trying times."You’ve always been there for us and we’ll always be there for you. We look forward to seeing everyone again on tour when we can all safely be together."Meanwhile, the group’s new album '2020' has been delayed from its May release date, with the record itself undergoing some changes in response to the current climate.Now, he explained: "My wife, Dorothea, took a photo of me in our Soul Kitchen restaurant, so we could spread the word to those in need via social media. "We captioned it: 'If you can't do what you do... do what you can!'"The next day, I realised that those words sounded like a big old Bon Jovi chorus... so I wrote the song."The track became 'Do What You Can', which was one of two last minute additions to the new LP - which was released on Friday (02.10.20).The other - which is called 'American Reckoning' - is an acoustic song dealing with the death of George Floyd earlier this year.
