The 'Love Me Again' hitmaker says the Scottish DJ is "strong" and "doesn't need" anyone to comfort him after the superstar couple ended their 15-month romance in June.

The 26-year-old singer told The Sun newspaper: "He doesn't need anybody. His emotions are so strong, he's so strong minded.

"He's a one-man train who is never going to stop. The limits are literally endless for him.

"What he's done is nothing compared to what he can do. That's the scary thing, how far this really could go for him."

John - who most recently collaborated with the hunky musician on 'Ole' - also joked that he's been phoning up his pal to "check he's tucked in safe" at night.

While the 'Blame' star previously declined to comment on the 'Bad Blood' singer's new relationship with actor Tom Hiddleston, he did reveal that their song 'Ole', which is allegedly a cheat track, was 100 per cent written by Calvin.

At the time, John said: "In all honesty, Calvin has done 100 per cent of the writing on this. I went into the studio, he said, 'Sing this', and I sang the song.

"He told me how to sing it. It's a weird one because, I've got no comment on the thing [Swift and Hiddleston's relationship]. I honestly can't - it wouldn't be fair. I've just related to the tune in my own way."

Meanwhile, it has been claimed Calvin didn't write the song about his former lover as he'd actually penned it "months" before they broke off their relationship.

A source previously said: "People are just making assumptions to get attention for a song. There's no way it could be about Tom.

"It has nothing to do with Tom and Taylor."
