John Mayer thinks Katy Perry's Super Bowl performance was "awesome".
The 'Gravity' hitmaker - who recently rekindled his romance with the 'Dark Horse' singer - believes people have bestowed praise on her backing dancers, who dressed in shark outfits, because they are too embarrassed to admit they enjoyed the pop princess' half-time show at the NFL game on Sunday (01.02.15).
Interviewing Andy Cohen as he guest hosted the 'Late Late Show', John admitted he watched the performance from the family box and added: "It was unbelievable. And I think the whole thing about the sharks, everybody wants to talk about the sharks because it's just something everyone can grab onto because not everyone feels comfortable walking around saying that Katy Perry was amazing.
"So they use the sharks as kind of, 'Guys, love the sharks.' It's like, you have nothing bad to say about the performance, do you? 'No, I don't.' Because if they did, you'd hear about it... She made the internet a kind, gentle place for a day. It was awesome."
As well as earning praise from John, Katy's half-time show has also been applauded by her former boyfriend Diplo, while her ex-husband Russell Brand predicted great things ahead of the performance.
The producer shared a picture from her set afterwards on PHHOTO and wrote: "@Katyperry murdered it (sic)".
He also tweeted: "Who's w me? Team Katy Perry #sp49 (sic)"
And 'Arthur' star Russell tweeted: "Super Bowl may be baffling to Brits but half time show will be amazing. Good luck KP."
