Ricky Martin hopes Joel Madden's drug bust will be an "awakening" for him.
The 'Livin' la Vida Loca' singer insists he is fully supporting Joel after his fellow 'The Voice Australia' judge was thrown out of his hotel in Sydney on Sunday (09.06.13) for smoking marijuana.
But Ricky hopes 34-year-old Joel learns a lesson from the experience, and he has also refused to criticism judge Seal for leaping to the rocker's defence on Twitter, in a series of tweets he's now deleted, which accused the Australian media of trying to "destroy his brother".
When quizzed on what he thinks about the drama that has engulfed Joel and then Seal on the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Australian radio station 2Day FM, Ricky said: "What I have to say is that they are my brothers. They have become brothers and I wish them nothing but the best. Joel, love and light to your family and I wish ... that this has become a beautiful awakening for you."
Ricky, 41, believes Joel will be fine on this week's show and believes it will be an emotional episode.
He added: "He (Joel) already said what he needed to say and he apologised. The show is going to be beautiful this week. It's going to be very emotional and very powerful this week."
Police were called to Joel's hotel room at approximately 4.30 pm on Sunday after a cleaner at the Darling Hotel inside the Sydney Star casino found less than five grams of cannabis in his room.
Officers arrived to search his room several hours later and the 'Like It's Her Birthday' hitmaker was reportedly present at the time.
The investigation is still ongoing but Joel - who has two children, Harlow, five, and Sparrow, three, with his wife Nicole Richie - will not be charged as Australian law permits authorities to issue a simple caution when only a small amount of drugs are found.
Joel was immediately asked to leave the hotel and afterwards he issued a statement saying: "Sydney is my adopted home and I appreciate the way the NSW police handled the situation. They have informed me there will be no charges. I hope this didn't cause too much drama for anyone."
