Joe Exotic has claimed he was "too innocent and too gay" to receive a presidential pardon.
The 'Tiger King' star - who is currently serving a 22-year sentence behind bars after being convicted of plotting a murder-for-hire against rival Carole Baskin - had been hoping to be set free by President Donald Trump in his last days of office, so was shocked when the former 'Apprentice' star left office without signing the paperwork.
Joe tweeted: "I was too innocent and too GAY to deserve a Pardon from Trump.(sic)"
The 57-year-old star - whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage - then slammed the former president's son, Donald Trump Jr., who had previously supported his bid to be pardoned.
He continued: "I only mattered to Don Jr. when he needed to make a comment about me to boost his social media post.
"Boy were we all stupid to believe he actually stood for Equal Justice? His corrupt friends all come first."
While Joe was angry not to be granted clemency, Carol admitted she was relieved that her rival hadn't been pardoned.
She told Fox News: "I'm taking a deep breath because I feel such a sense of relief.
"From the very time that he was sentenced I have worried about there being a presidential pardon that could undo all of the hard work that went into bringing this person to justice. When today at noon a new president was sworn in, I felt like I was finally safe from that threat."
On Tuesday (19.01.21), Joe's legal representative claimed they were so "confident" he would be pardoned, they had a limousine waiting to take him home from prison.
Eric Love, who has led Joe's campaign, said: "This time tomorrow, we’re going to be celebrating. We have good reason to believe it will come through. ‘We’re confident enough we already have a limousine parked about half a mile from the prison. We are really in action mode right now. I've got make-up, wardrobe, the whole unit that will come up.
"The first thing Joe wants to do, he wants his hair done. He hasn’t had his hair done in two-and-a-half years. That’s the first order of business. Then we’ll probably go and get some pizzas, steak, maybe a McRib."
