In the last interview before her passing, Joan Rivers admitted she thought death would be a "big blow" to her daughter, Melissa.

Rivers died on Thursday (04.09.14) after going into cardiac arrest during a throat operation, leaving behind 46-year-old Melissa.

In the last interview before her death, Joan told The Sunday Times magazine she was preparing her daughter for her death.

The comedienne added: "Melissa says, 'I don't want to hear about it, I don't want to talk about it', but I say, it's coming. It's inevitable. It's no longer an abstract thing. It's like, God, I'm in my eighties.

"Nobody, when I die, is going to say, "how young?" They're going to say she had a great ride."

Melissa - whose father, Edgar Rosenberg, committed suicide when she was just four years old - was expected to attend a private service for her mother yesterday (07.09.14) alongside her son, 13-year-old Cooper.

Previously, a statement released by Melissa last Thursday (04.09.14), which confirmed the sad news, spoke of her mother's final wish.

It read: "Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated.

"My mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon."
