Jimmy Osmond

Jimmy Osmond says his kids aren't going to follow him into the family business and work in showbusiness.

The 51-year-old star has been singing with his brothers in The Osmonds since he was a child and he and his siblings still play around a hundred shows a year.

Jimmy has four children - Sophia, Zachary, Arthur, and Isabella - with his wife Michele but so far they have shown no interest in recording songs, and he thinks they're wise to avoid a career in music.

Jimmy - who is currently in the UK with The Osmonds as part of the 'Once In A Lifetime' tour - told FemaleFirst: "Everyone is out of school so we've had a family holiday and come over together to the UK for these eight shows. My boys love doing that, they like coming round with us to see what their crazy old dad and uncles do. I don't think they really want to join the family business and I don't blame them! One boy wants to be a dentist.

"Showbusiness is different than what it was when we grew up. We grew up the old Hollywood way, we didn't know what we were doing we just kind of fell into all these amazing opportunities with all these cool mentors and you don't really see that happening in today's world and that's kind of sad. It would have been something that would have been fun to hand down to your kids but most entertainment kids really have a hard go anyway, always trying to live up to what their dad's done."

However, the 'Long Haired Lover from Liverpool' singer insists his kids do have the talent to be musicians if they want.

Jimmy did drag his tribe on stage during a Christmas concert and despite their initial reluctance he says they enjoyed the experience.

He explained: "My kids are all really musically talented. I did a show in Florida, a Christmas show, and I made the kids sing on stage and they hated me for it at first. Then at the end of the show they said, 'Dad we'd do that again.' I think it's in their blood but I think they're smart enough to look at doing something else for a living."

The Osmonds are joined on the 'Once In A Lifetime - The Final Tour' by David Essex, Les McKeown's Legendary Bay City Rollers and Showaddywaddy which kicks off at the Phones 4U Arena in Manchester, Northern England, tonight (20.06.14).
