Jimmy Kimmel has explained why so many stars head to In-N-Out Burger for a greasy takeaway after the movie industry's most glamorous award shows.

The TV talk show presenter - who is hosting the 2024 Academy Awards on March 10 - has opened up about Hollywood's obsession with the California-born burger chain revealing most guests are ravenous following lengthy prizegiving ceremonies and out-of-towners are keen to try the menu at the iconic fast food joint.
He told PEOPLE: "The award show tradition is In-N-Out after the show. And I think part of why is because when people are in L.A., one of the things on their list is to go to In-N-Out - and there are a lot of people that are in L.A. just for the Oscars - so they wind up going like, ‘Okay'.
"Also, you get very hungry, so In-N-Out is definitely the award show tradition. Nothing against McDonald's, but on award show night, it's In-N-Out."
Kimmel's explanation comes after he featured in an Oscars promo alongside the stars of the 'Barbie' movie with Ryan Gosling reprising his role of Ken to grab a meal from the fast food outlet.
In the teaser, Gosling holds up a bag of food and declares: "I got In-N-Out! ... It’s kind of this cool social media trend where you get it before the Oscars."
Kimmel then tells the actor: "Actually, I think the trend is to have In-N-Out after the Oscars. Actually, after you’ve won the Oscar."
Gosling - who is nominated for the Best Actor award for his role in the doll-themed film - then replied: "Well, that’s not going to happen. Good thing Greta’s got director in the bag."
He was referring to 'Barbie' director Greta Gerwig, who was snubbed by the Academy for her involvement in the film, and he's then corrected by another 'Barbie' Oscar-nominee America Ferrera, which prompts the actor to lead the cast in a scream of despair.
