Jessie J thinks Miley Cyrus' twerking performance at the MTV Video Music Awards was "too much."
The 'It's My Party' hitmaker doesn't approve of 20-year-old singer's controversial appearance at the VMAs last month which saw her gyrating up against Robin Thicke while suggestively touching herself with a foam finger and strutting around the stage with her tongue hanging out while wearing just a latex bikini.
However, Jessie can relate to the star as her video for 2010 hit 'Do It Like A Dude', which saw her thrusting and making lewd gestures, also shocked many viewers.
Jessie said: "Yeah I think it's too much. I do think it's too much. But I know, I've been there though I remember when 'Dude' came out, everyone was like 'woah!', so I understand that sometimes you do things and you go, 'I've done it now.' "
The 25-year-old star hopes the 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker - whose dad is BIlly Ray Cyrus - has the right people around her who are a positive influence and can direct her onto the right path.
She explained: "I just hope that the people around her are guarding her in the right way, because, yeah..."
Jessie puts the performance down to Miley's desperate attempt to break away from her Disney character 'Hannah Montana'.
Speaking to Alan Carr on British TV chat show 'Chatty Man', Jessie said: "I actually find it quite sad. No I do, I find it sad, because I think she's really young, and I don't know, I feel like, I know how hard it is to try and break away from a character the world has created, and I think people want to meet Hannah Montana, and she's not Hannah Montana; she's Miley Cyrus, but she's still - she's very young still, she's only 20.
"I don't think it should have been as celebrated as it was, in my opinion."
