Jessica Simpson's new album is "a risk".
The 35-year-old singer and entrepreneur is gearing up to release her first lot of new music since 2010 and her team are reportedly worried about its success.
A source told the New York Daily News' Confidenti@l column: "An album that is unlikely to net big bucks - at least in comparison to her clothing income - is a risk to the fashion empire she's built. The fact is, Jessica's job is being a personal brand.
"She's been saying that she's been wanting to do an album forever."
The 'I Belong To Me' hitmaker sparked rumours she was making a return to music when she revealed she was having a studio built in her basement.
She said recently: "That's how I started; that's always [been] one of my biggest passions in the world. I love to use my voice.
"[Once it's completed, I'll] be down in the basement recording. I'm sure my kids will completely take over."
Meanwhile, a source previously claimed Jessica is planning a tour to go alongside her new release.
They said: "She's told friends she'd love to record another album. It's her New Year's resolution.
"The plan is to get the new album recorded this year and go on tour the following. Jess has missed performing so much. She's very excited."
