Jessica Simpson is happier than ever before after losing 50lbs with Weight Watchers following the birth of her first child.

Simpson, who will marry her fiancé Eric Johnson this year, admits she lost her confidence after gaining weight following the birth of their first child, 22-year-old daughter Maxwell, but managed to lose 50lbs after joining Weight Watchers.

Speaking in a new advert for the weight loss classes, she says: "When I started Weight Watchers, I didn't know what to expect at the meetings but I really love going, I do.

"It reminds me we don't have to do this alone. It's so much better to have some back up and to do it together because we all face similar challenges.

"The meetings keep me focused and motivated and I have a new found determination that I'm really proud of. I can honestly say I've never been happier!"

The singer, who also has eight-month-old son Ace, has set a date for her wedding to former NFL star Eric, 34, who she got engaged to in November 2010, and plans to stay in shape for her big day.

She told People magazine: "I think it's about time! Knowing that I have the wedding coming up is an incentive to stay on Weight Watchers, count my points and stay in the gym. I mean, when you see my dress, you'll know."

Meanwhile, the singer hasn't released new material since her 'Happy Christmas' album in 2010 and wants to start focusing on her career again.

The fashion mogul said: "I wanna sing again. I want my daughter to see me onstage. My fiancé has never even watched me perform. Which is crazy. That's my passion, that's my love, that's everything that I am."
