Jessica Simpson sympathised with Kim Kardashian after she was criticised for her pregnancy weight.
The reality TV star gave birth to North West - her first daughter with partner Kanye West - in June, and the 'Fashion Star' mentor has defended her after she got mocked for her own curves.
Jessica - who also has a daughter Maxwell, 15 months - told Us Weekly: "I felt for Kim - I knew exactly what she was going through ... I send a lot of love her way, and I know she'll come back with a bang."
The 33-year-old singer doesn't "understand" why women are given a "hard time" when they gain weight during their pregnancy.
She added: "I will never understand why people give pregnant women such a hard time.
"We are creating a human life: I think we get every excuse in the world to eat a doughnut!"
Jessica also praised Britain's Duchess Catherine for "glowing" while she was waiting to give birth to Prince George - and admitted she doesn't mind that she "can't help" gaining weight.
She said: "Kate Middleton was glowing throughout her pregnancy. A lot of pregnant moms were looking at her like, 'How do you do that?'
"I am definitely one of those pregnant women who just gains a lot of weight. I have really big boobs, I have my curves and I just gain weight.
"I can't help it ... It's been six weeks since I've had my baby now, and I feel great ... It's okay to gain weight, and it will always come off."
