The 34-year-old actress, who is regularly praised for her incredible bikini body, has admitted she suffered from bad asthma when she was younger which meant she wasn't able to partake in pro-longed periods of exercise.
Speaking to Self magazine, she said: "I was on a swim team, and I was chubby and slow and dead last - a full two laps last. I was crying and couldn't breathe."
Although she struggled mentally and physically with the water sport, the businesswoman's parents encouraged her to power on and push through the pain.
She explained: "My mum and dad were like, 'You started this, you're going to finish it!' My parents made me stick to stuff, pick myself up. It's painful to go through, but I appreciate that tough love."
Meanwhile, Jessica - who has two daughters Honor, seven, and Haven, four, with her husband Cash Warren - recently admitted she used to have a problem with self-confidence but feels more comfortable in her own skin now she's older.
She explained: "I'm more comfortable in my own skin than I was before. I think you just have a different mentality on what really matters, the older you get."
