Jennifer Lawrence and ex-beau Nicholas Hoult have been filming love scenes together for X-Men: Apocalypse.

The two split earlier this year but play mutant partners in the new installment of the Marvel movie franchise, but have been forced to put any differences aside for the sake of the job.

Jennifer as Mystique will get close to Nicholas as Beast, as the plot centres around the relationship between the two characters.

Speaking to The Sun a source said: "It's a huge ensemble franchise but the point of the latest film was to strip that back and focus on Jen and Nick's characters' relationship."

Nicholas and Jennifer first met on the set of X-Men: First Class in 2011, but cited busy schedules for the reason behind their split this August.

They are however said to be determined to make the script work.

"Earlier this year that seemed like a great idea, but now they've split and it's too late to rewrite the script. They are very professional of course, and will make it work."
