Jennifer Lawrence has become anxious about tripping over on the red carpet since her infamous tumble at the 2013 Oscars.

The clumsy actress was traumatised by her tumble at the 2013 Academy Awards, where she tripped up the steps as she collected her Best Actress Oscar for her role in 'Silver Linings Playbook', and now fully expects to fall flat on her face at every red carpet event she attends.

She told The Sun newspaper: "My mom taught me to laugh at myself. What else can I do? There are so many things that I do and say which come out wrong because I don't think before speaking. I make a fool of myself easier than anyone I know.

"But that's part of the way I was allowed to be when growing up. I get so nervous before going down red carpets -- particularly after that fall at the Oscars.

"I've tripped at least a couple of other times, too. I managed to forget to thank both the director and producer when I went on stage, so I wonder what was worse? I had to walk down the stairs at the wedding of my older brother recently and thought, 'I cannot fall again. I just can't."

The 23-year-old star is grateful her role as fearless heroine Katniss Everdeen in fantasy film series 'The Hunger Games' has inspired a generation of young girls to be fit and healthy rather than obsessing about being skinny.

Jennifer explained: "A lot of people have picked up on the fact that I don't diet and that it's better to be happy and healthy. That, again, is the way I was brought up. My mom never once said, 'I think you should lose weight.' I have had that said to me in Hollywood and I just ignore it.

"There are too many fashion police out there judging us all on looks and weight. One of the many things I love about my character, Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games is that although she is fit and strong, she's never thin.

"She's a great role model for girls in that she is tough and determined, yet also shows kindness and love."
