Jennifer Lawrence needed to "catch up" on her drinking at the Golden Globe Awards.
Jennifer Lawrence says she needs to "catch up" on her drinking and blamed her "manic" acceptance speech at the Golden Globes on not having a glass of wine to relax herself.
The 23-year-old star appeared flustered on stage at the ceremony last night (12.01.14) when she picked up the Best Supporting Actress prize for 'American Hustle' and she has blamed her "manic" behaviour on not having enough alcohol to calm her nerves before the big event.
Speaking to reporters backstage after collecting the gong, quick-witted Jennifer said: "You guys didn't watch my speech, did you? I need to catch up on my drinking. I think that's why I was so manic. Normally I have, like, a glass of wine. Um, that's not a good answer..."
The blonde beauty admits winning the award was "really overwhelming" as she doesn't prepare herself for successes such as her Oscar victory for Best Actress last year.
She told Entertainment Weekly and other reporters: "It's kind of unbelievable ... really, genuinely unbelievable. I can't really process it. It's such a huge honour."
Stunning Jennifer - who was accompanied to the ceremony by her boyfriend Nicholas Hoult - was lost for words as she collected her Golden Globe and even pleaded with Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) voters to stop giving her awards so she can avoid awkward acceptance speeches in future.
She quipped: "I'm sorry I'm shaking so much! Don't ever do this again. It's so scary!"
