Jay-Z unveiled his new album's artwork in a British cathedral.
The rap mogul choose Salisbury Cathedral in Wiltshire for the global reveal of the artwork for his new album 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' because the religious building holds part of the original 787-year-old historical Magna Carta document.
The hip-hop star's black-and-white artwork has gone on display next to four pages from the original 1215 Magna Carta, a 63-clause charter setting out the origins of English democracy.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Jay-Z's never even visited Salisbury but he loved the idea of the alignment of his work of art with this historical document in such a spiritual setting. He thinks I will be good karma for the album.
"It's not out of the question that he will want to see the installation in person - it's an incredible stage for it, and like nothing he's done before."
The '99 Problems' singer - who has daughter Blue Ivy with his wife Beyonce - is expected to pay a visit to the cathedral when he jets over to the UK to perform at Wireless Festival in Hyde Park later this month.
The Dean of Salisbury, Very Reverend June Osborne, said she was "delighted" and believes "the ideals the Magna Carta embodies are still relevant today and with Jay-Z, through his album."
