James Norton's latest movie role left him feeling "broody".
The 35-year-old actor - who is in a relationship with actress Imogen Poots - developed a strong bond with six-year-old Daniel Lamont, who played his on screen son in 'Nowhere Special' around the same time his sister had children, and he admitted being around kids so much made him think about starting a family of his own.
He said: "I did get broody.
"My girlfriend definitely clocked that I was getting a little bit more broody.
"It coincided with my age; becoming an uncle, then playing this role and having such a deep connection with Daniel. Yeah, I would go home and talk about having kids. I think she was quite sweet about it."
However, the 'McMafia' star admitted having a child wouldn't be easy because of his and Imogen's careers, acknowledging that it's a "peripatetic, bouncy life that actors lead."
James spent a lot of time away from the set with Daniel - who was just four at the time - and his family in order to win the youngster's trust.
He told the Daily Mail newspaper's Baz Bamigboye: "We'd muck about in the garden. Him on a bike and me on a skateboard — not very good for a 35 year old with the beginnings of back issues."
In 'Nowhere Special', James plays John, a terminally ill window cleaner looking for a family to raise his son, Michael, and he and director Uberto Pasolini had to be very careful discussing the storyline with his young co-star.
He said: "We had to handle it very delicately talking about death with Daniel."
The 'Little Women' actor was very impressed with the youngster's transformation on screen.
He said: "Daniel's running around full of energy and beans while Michael's similar to his dad, reflective, soulful."
