The Vamps guitarist is engaged to his long-term partner Kirstie Brittain, but has admitted he wouldn’t call himself heterosexual, as he has experienced attraction to “different genders” in the past.

He said: “I’ve realised in the past few years that I’m attracted to personalities  . . . Obviously I’m marrying Kirstie and it’s brilliant, but, you know, I do think everyone at some point in life is attracted to different genders.

“There are elements of things – it might not always be a sexual thing, for example – but you can really, really admire someone, cherish someone, value someone and find them attractive in a certain way.”

James said he has often found other men “really attractive”, but noted that doesn’t necessarily mean he wants to “marry that person or sleep with them”.

He added to Attitude magazine: “I do see, you know, men often and I’m like, he’s really, really attractive and I’m like, drawn to them in a certain way.

“But it doesn’t necessarily mean I want to marry that person or sleep with that person, but you do have tendencies and desires to do that.

"I think that’s a really good thing.”

Meanwhile, James and Kirstie postponed their wedding due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the 27-year-old musician recently said they’re now looking at a Halloween 2021 wedding.

He said: "I think we're going to postpone it. It is meant for November, but the problem is that the government haven't really set out any plans for how weddings can go back to normal. Thirty people can be at a reception, but have to be socially distanced. I think we're going to postpone it.
