The 37-year-old actor-and-presenter - who won the Best Actor in a Play at the Tony Award's in 2012 for his role in 'One Man, Two Guvnors' - has admitted he has enjoyed working on his critically-acclaimed US talk show 'The Late, Late Show' but doesn't want to do it "forever" and would like to do a "little play" in the future.

He said: "I have three-and-a-half years on my five year contract.

"I can't see myself doing this forever, but who knows?

"Maybe I'll go back to the UK and do a little play at the Southwark Playhouse. That would make me happy."

James - who has children Max, five, and 21-month-old Carey with his wife Julia - enjoys being famous and has revealed he has always dreamed of being a "big star".

He said: "I'm not totally oblivious to [fame], no one is. It's nice being famous. I always wanted to be a big star.

"I don't care if you're Prince or Leonardo DiCaprio, everyone who is famous chases that first weekend when fame hits. That first whoosh."

Meanwhile, the television personality has admitted his young children are not quite aware of his fame yet.

Speaking to GQ about his brood and their reaction to his fame, he said: "Yesterday I was walking to Central Park with my kids from the hotel and a taxi stops right in front of me. A man gets out, shakes my hand and then jumps back in the cab to carry on with his day.

"That's the first time I've worried a little bit about precisely what my eldest son thinks is going on here.

"He asked me, 'Daddy, why is that man staring at you?' I haven't really got a good answer figured out yet."
