James Corden has been told not to change his image now that he has landed the role as host of The Late Late Show in America.
Corden is set to kick of his U.S. hosting TV career later in March and was believed to be prepared to slim down before taking over the popular talk show. However, CBS executives don’t want him to change how he currently looks as they want him to appeal to the ‘man on the street.’
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "One of the key things bosses thought was important is that James actually looks like a normal American, which means he can appeal to the man on the street.
"He is not a glitzy-glam TV host and they feel his appeal will be looking like the man next door. His humour and clever writing will make him very likeable but his image is just as important."
James was apparently prepared to slim down for his US debut as fellow Brit Piers Morgan, 49, did for his role on CNN.
However, bosses of 'The Late Late Show' were happy for James to indulge himself over Christmas and New Year.
The insider told the Daily Star newspaper: "This is the greatest possible gift you could give a TV host."
James is set to begin presenting the show in March 2015 and will earn at least £2 million for his first year.
