The 36-year-old actor and TV presenter has confessed he is "excited" ahead of the global entrepreneurship event, which will be held in San Francisco and offers budding social entrepreneurs the chance to win a share of $1 million in funding and resources.

The event follows a global search by Chivas Whiskey to discover the most promising candidates and offer them the chance to take home the reward to get their companies started.

The British star - who has moved to the US to host CBS' 'The Late Late Show' - will judge pitches from 16 hopefuls and asses their potential to be profitable as a business, as well as their ability to offer scalable and ongoing solutions to social challenges.

James will be joined on the panel by 'Entourage' star Adrian Grenier and industry experts, while the public can also have their say and vote online for who they think should get a share of $1million.

The former 'Gavin and Stacey' star said in a statement: "I'm really honoured to be hosting the event for Chivas Regal in San Francisco. The line up of social entrepreneurs is pretty impressive and the funding they could win could be genuinely life changing for them and their businesses. It's set to be an exciting night!"

The Venture's final pitch event will take place at The Herbst Pavilion, San Francisco on Friday 24th July.
